Bodyswap at the House on the Hill: Session 3

You awaken slowly, laying in the middle of a cold, hard stone floor … and realise that you have absolutely no idea where you are, or what in all the hells is wrong with your body.

Maybe you're suddenly bigger than you remember, or smaller. Maybe you've got more limbs! Less limbs! Sharper teeth? Weird, unfamiliar powers and magic to tap into, or perhaps no powers at all? Without a mirror, it's very difficult to tell exactly what — or perhaps, who? — you look like … but maybe whoever else is around you could help you figure that out.

MINGLE

There's something just a little creepy about this room. Maybe it's got something to do with the huge chalk pentagram you woke up in the middle of? It's surrounded by a ring of twelve dim, flickering candles, their flames sending the shadows dancing in the otherwise dark room.

There's a locked door to the East. No matter what you do, you cannot get it open.

[She hums to herself, thoughtfully.]

[Sitting up on the floor and looking around. Looking at herself.]

[Pause.]

[Feels her face.]

The candle flames roar, flaring brighter, taller, and a click can be heard from the door.

ENTRANCE HALL

You are in the Entrance Hall. It's big and fancy, with high vaulted ceilings, polished oakwood flooring, lots of intricate detailing here, there, and everywhere. A huge chandelier provides decent lighting.

To the South is the front door, a solid work of wood and iron, with four keyholes. It is very much locked and completely impassable no matter how hard you try. To the left of this door is a set of coat hooks, all empty, and an umbrella stand, which is not empty. To the East is a door, to the North is the Foyer, and to the West is the elevator.

Wha--?!

[For a moment, her eyes are clearly not seeing the entrance hall in front of them. But after a few seconds, she is able to shake it.]

...Four keyholes? Goodness, could we make it any more difficult?

She is going to examine that south door to make sure that it is, indeed, locked before heading east]

GYMNASIUM

You enter the Gymnasium.

One half of the floorspace is dominated by a sizable swimming pool, filled with clean, warm (chlorinated, of course) water. The second half has tread machines, stationary cycles, a rack of weights, and a set of three lockers.

Ugh... well, I guess this is progress.

[She's going to inspect one of the lockers.]

ATTIC

You enter the Attic. It's dusty and creaky and dark, though you can dimly spot a chest at the far side of the room …

The only door is the one you came through.

Well maybe not you Roxas.

Roxas is in fact getting dragged in through a hole in the wall, the knife still in his leg blocking most of the blood so only a few drops getting in his face as the spider wrestles to hang him upside down from the ceiling. He's partially wrapped up already, but only partially, as he's giving this spider a hell of a fight for it's meal.

KITCHEN

You enter the Kitchen, which is shiny and chrome. It's ultra modern. There's a fridge freezer, drawers and cupboards, a huge range oven and stove top … and out of nowhere comes a sudden rain of plaster and debris from above!

UPPER LANDING

You find the creaky old Upper Landing. The chandelier above you is dim and flickering.

There are doors to the North, East, South, and West.

[First things first! She slides to the floor, curls in on herself, clutches her ankle with one hand, and screams into her clenched fist for a solid minute.]

FOYER

You enter the Foyer. Tucked into an alcove is a statue of a boy and girl trading whispers.

There is one door to the East, and one door to the West.

There is a staircase through an open archway to the North and the Entrance Hall is open to the South.

[Heading for the stairs. Still looking for the living aura to see if it's ahead or not.]

THE COLLAPSED ROOM

This empty room seems to be missing most of its floor. Where would you end up, if you fell down there? It's impossible to say. A few creaky old boards are left to span the distance, one through the middle of the room and another along the wall.

The light in here is flickering even worse than the one on the landing.

There are doors to the East and West.

[TURNS RIGHT BACK AROUND, angrily hobbling east]

GRAND STAIRCASE

You approach the Grand Staircase. The dark mahogany wood almost hides the trail of scratches and old, worn in bloodstains …

[Heading right up those stairs, watching for any signs of traps, or more spiders, but still heading for that aura.]

MASTER BEDROOM

You enter the Master Bedroom. The floor is strewn with clothes — or maybe buried under would be a more apt description. It's a pretty impressive collection. There are swimming trunks, jeans, black robes, three piece suits that may or may not match, t-shirts, some interesting lacy … boxer shorts? Huh.

On the wall above the king-size bed is a large, beautiful portrait of a laughing young woman with black hair and grey eyes; she's wearing a white summer dress, and she's cradling a knitted rabbit doll in one arm and a bouquet of flowers in the other. There is a cold fireplace set against one wall, and a wooden trunk against the other.

The only door is the one you came through.

COURTYARD

You enter the Courtyard. It's a beautiful garden space, with pretty flowers and even a variety of apple trees. The endlessly towering wrought iron fence surrounding it might seem a little much, though … you know immediately that there's no way you're going to be able to escape through or over them.

A stone path winds through the garden.

There is a door to the East and a door to the West.
