You awaken slowly, laying in the middle of a cold, hard stone floor … and realise that you have absolutely no idea where you are, or what in all the hells is wrong with your body.

Maybe you're suddenly bigger than you remember, or smaller. Maybe you've got more limbs! Less limbs! Sharper teeth? Weird, unfamiliar powers and magic to tap into, or perhaps no powers at all? Without a mirror, it's very difficult to tell exactly what — or perhaps, who? — you look like … but maybe whoever else is around you could help you figure that out.

Apparently.

The magic is definitely a possibility elsewhere, and this place has shown to be able to overrun our abilities. Stands to reason if it can overpower, it's more than possible to do what can be done with them.

[She growls and paces a bit, clenching her fists, before turning back.]

Where is the one who has my body? I wish to have this undone immediately.

Not here. Looks like we've been split up from others for the moment.

It's probably a trial and whatever this is will be undone then.

[Facepalm that may or may not be hiding a silent scream.]

Then it is in our best interest to win this trial as quickly as we are able.

Yeah.

I'd like to have the proper limb count.

For reference, Faito can fight and her necklace allows her to cast some protective spells. Don't know how it works, but hopefully it's somewhat intuitive.

Hmm...

[She cradles the necklace in one hand and closes her eyes. A minute later she opens them with a scowl.]

I cannot sense any power from the necklace, nor use it to power my own spells. I can feel no connection to magic at all! [That last sentence almost turns into a wail.]

[Looks surprised at that.]

Can I see it?

[She closes her hand around it and looks hesitant and a little suspicious.]

You are familiar with magic? With hers?

I'm familiar with magic and I'm familiar with Faito.

And considering even if I stole it, it'd just be on this guy, kind of pointless for me to do that, isn't it?

True. I cannot use it. If you are able to, better it be with someone who can make use of it.

[And she lifts it over her head and holds it out.]

[He'll take it. Doesn't bother putting it on because that seems like a Hassle.]

[Tries to tug on the OTHER magic he feels and make a connection and-]

Huh. There's really nothing.

I guess their order was thorough.

Does the one making this trial wish for us to fail? I see no other purpose for depriving us of magic and leaving us access to trinkets we cannot use.

I think that's just bad luck. It's likely that necklace is for an order of protectors. It would make sense to lock it to a person.

Just most would lock it a body, not a soul, or mind. Which is probably the case.

I think I still have this guy's magic. At least I feel something.
