ANGEL GAME 1: GROUP A

[You enter the tent to find yourself in what appears to be a conference room in the sky. The walls and ceiling consist of a glass dome, outside of which a raging thunderstorm can be seen. If you approach the wall, you’ll find the room seems to be floating. Down below is a forest, but it’s raining so hard that it’s impossible to make out any details.

The inside of the room has only a large, circular table. In the center is open space, and around the outer edge are high-backed chairs. In front of each chair is a paper with a copy of the rules -- when everyone sits, the game will begin.

In Group A is: ginger, thyme, & licorice.]

Try to talk to the monster first. Obviously. Ain't gonna make a fucking decision without getting their side.

[Nod. This is in the right direction.]

But not every monster speaks your language. What then?

Figure out some way of nonverbal communication. Drawings, hand gestures. Whatever works.
ewestmarch: (hmmm)

[personal profile] ewestmarch 2018-12-19 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
You're right, and I think it's the answer they're looking for.

[Hand quotes:] "Justice."

Where I'm from, something like this would be an act of war and naturally you'd execute the bastard just for trespassing. But maybe I'm just being contrary.
axeboyfriend: Neutral (And if I claimed to by a wise man)

[personal profile] axeboyfriend 2018-12-19 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
's fine if that's how it is where you're from. For me though, I'd rather not jump straight to the worst conclusion.

It's not what they want us to say anyway.
axeboyfriend: Neutral; Surprise (Pass before my eyes)

[personal profile] axeboyfriend 2018-12-19 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, probably not.

I'm not above gaming the system.

[She squints at the intercom.]

What should we do, vote?
axeboyfriend: Neutral (But in the end)

[personal profile] axeboyfriend 2018-12-19 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
That's probably the easiest way to herd everyone into an answer we can mostly agree on.
ewestmarch: (stare)

[Emilia peels a glove off, climbs onto the table, and puts two fingers in her mouth to make a sharp, shrill whistle.]

LET'S VOTE.
friskmanagement: (Act: Confused)

[personal profile] friskmanagement 2018-12-19 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
[You wince and cover your ears.]

Uh.

I vote talking. Or. Give it a pen and paper or something.

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2018-12-19 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I vote communication be attempted by multiple methods, while an expert to identify or translate for the monster is sought for. If it's animal, it should be relocated to a suitable area away from human settlement. If it's a thinking creature, it should be offered the same due process as a human while the investigation into the murders is underway.

I like Eliza's method.

[sigh]

Since that's what everyone else wants, I'll play along. Let's talk to the monster.

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2018-12-19 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
I think Eliza is somewhat too merciful, but I will agree with her proposed solution.

[If it's an animal, or something that eats people, just kill it???]

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2018-12-19 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
We could also try to sedate it, and examine the creature. See if it has any obvious ways of doing harm.

But without evidence, it's hard to say something ought to be killed.
axeboyfriend: Neutral (And even though I tried it all fell apar)

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] axeboyfriend 2018-12-19 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
That first one's still jumping the gun a bit. See if the guy's willing to talk and if he ain't, then worry about sedation.
nihilmancy: (Curious)

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2018-12-19 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Clearly. But that may be an option if we find no means of communication. In any case, it would be wrong to kill something simply because it is only potentially a threat.
axeboyfriend: Neutral (While the king was looking down)

It's pretty fucked-up.

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] nihilmancy 2018-12-19 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
So we keep it imprisoned until we find a method of communication, or a way to clearly discern it as a clear threat or a culprit. It seems... unfair, but we must also protect our charges.
