Partners In Peril: Klarion and Cat
[Whether willing or just, there comes a magical shove to force you and someone else through the door leading down into the earth.]
[The passageway is cold, but at least it's well lit. Albeit with flames of blue fire.]
[It goes down, down, down, until you reach the first part....]

Re: DISCUSSION
... I'm not afraid of the dark but...
[Right now, neither option sounds fun.]
I think it wants us to each take one side. The one taking the stairs will help guide the one below, maybe? But it sounds like it won't be easy for the person on the lower level.
Re: DISCUSSION
I'm not afraid of the dark either, but I suspect that even my night vision won't be enough to see.
Do you think you can give clear directions, or would you like me to?
[is kind of hoping for a break, but isn't going to make the kid take a risk she won't].
Re: DISCUSSION
[This was a much harder choice than the first room. He knew for certain he wouldn't be able to catch her and keep them both from injury there. This time he was presented with something he could possibly do, but without any way to gauge just how dangerous it would be made the decision difficult.]
[Did he trust her enough to keep him safe in this scenario? He would say probably yes, assuming it wasn't too complicated once they got settled. But did he even have to take that risk? They had come a long way, but they weren't friends. They weren't teammates. They weren't even hardly acquaintances at this point. So why should he risk himself to give her some comfort?]
[Survival versus community. That's what it came down to, and honestly, he wasn't sure how he should weigh them against one another. So far, nothing had been rightly "fair" and "easy." Nothing was completely painless. Was he willing to risk pain, injury, worse? For a stranger?]
[After a long moment, he speaks, looking directly at her:] Do you really wish for me to make the decision?
Re: DISCUSSION
I can give directions. If you'd trust me to.
Re: DISCUSSION
[He takes a breath.]
I do not really trust anyone. But if you are confident you can give good directions, I will take a risk. At least this once.
Re: DISCUSSION
[going to head towards the stairs]
Re: DISCUSSION
[And with that, he takes another deep breath and moves to the door for the lower level.]
Re: DISCUSSION
[As they pass the panels, they turn red.]
[Where the two can talk.]
[Place for some choices above]
[And a place for choices below.]
