[Whether willing or just, there comes a magical shove to force you and someone else through the door leading down into the earth.]

[The passageway is cold, but at least it's well lit. Albeit with flames of blue fire.]

Welp, might as well see if there's better options than spike roulette.

[And he's gonna head to the lift and start examining the controls.]

[ He's going to look around him and see if there's something he can drop into the sea of spikes to test it. ]

[Sadly the only thing to really drop down is rocks. And while spikes versus flesh is a losing battle, rocks have an easier time of it.]

[The spikes are physically there though, the rocks will ding off them.]

[But drop enough rocks and it is a little easier to spot where the gaps in the spikes are.]

Hmm, I guess it's not completely impossible to navigate. If you go insanely slow.

[There's not really much in the way of controls. The gate would be easy to push open, though there does seem to be a place for a latch to lock it into place when the lift is gone. Safety and all.]

[As for the lift itself, it seems to operate with the pull of a lever.]

Well, this is simple enough. Though only one could use it. Unless it can be sent back by keeping the lever pulled.

And now the question becomes, who goes and who waits? [Loki takes a look down to the pit.] That would not be the worst terrain I have ever been forced to cross.

I got to say I've never dealt with spikes before.

[ Seems to be muttering to himself in an annoyed voice. ]

... that doesn't count. They're yours.

Then it seems it is settled. Do you have anything that could hold the lever in place, or must we use the clothes on our backs?

Well, there's a lot of rocks. But I'm willing to sacrifice my jacket for the cause.

[Loki looks wryly at his basic black Senna uniform, no longer covered by an illusion of his usual clothes.]

If you can spare it, that would be preferable to tearing my clothes. [Maybe he should start dressing in layers.]

You've giving me first go at the lift, it's the least I can do.

Many might consider me selfish, but I value pragmatism, and this is the most pragmatic arrangement.

I would recommend taking some rocks, if the lever requires extra weight to stay pulled.

[ Going to gather some more rocks before stepping inside ]

... Uh, what's your plan for if the level doesn't do what's supposed to do. Just checking.

Climb down and traverse the spikes. I have done similar in the past. Often while fighting for my life.

... uh okay. Long as you have a plan, I guess.

[ That doesn't sound like a plan at all. But he doesn't have a better one either. And he knows damn well by now that if he tries to offer himself instead, Fatalis would have a royal fit and probably make everything 10,000 times worse.

He takes a big breath and starts to pull the lever. ]

[The lift begins to move and with it, the gate latches shut.]

[It travels down the space carved out in the rock, down, down, down to the other gate.]

[There's the click of a latch here as the lift settles, allowing for the gate to be opened.]

[ Well, he's not dead. That's a good sign.

Now to open the gate enough to squeeze out but not actually exit. Instead he lodges in some rocks to keep the gate from closing again, as he returns to the lever and attempts to tie it back with his jacket and a few more of the heavier rocks, to keep the jacket from sliding. ]

I really hope this works...
